Smoothies are a great make ahead or grab and go breakfast and as I never have time to eat breakfast at home during weekday mornings, these are a lifesaver.
A lady at work brings her smoothies in a jam jar which is a fantastic idea and I have been using this top tip ever since. It not only takes up less room in my bag that the big flasks/ shakers I used to bring them in but also it makes the perfect serving size for a nice light breakfast.
I’ll be honest I’m terrible at breakfast during the week, I rarely get up early enough to have breakfast before I leave for work and when I do, due to my commute, I’m just not hungry that early in the morning. Instead I have breakfast as soon as I get to the office or at least by 10am when I am hungry enough to want and enjoy a breakfast.
Try this tropical smoothie either with Greek yoghurt or protein powder to make it more filling. I prefer Greek yoghurt if I’m honest as I’ve still not found a protein powder I really love the taste of. Sorry, not sorry myprotien warriors.
I also use frozen fruits for my smoothies, they last ages and are cheaper than buying all the individual fruits separately. This pack from my beloved Aldi contains mango, melon and pineapple but they have other combinations or just frozen fruits on their own which I highly recommend.
1 cup frozen tropical fruit mix
100ml semi-skimmed milk or vegan milk alternative
60g full fat Greek yoghurt
1 handful of greens (kale works well)
½ tsp ginger
Squeeze of lemon or lime
1 Put all the above ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth- easy peasy!
This recipe makes 1 serving and is roughly 204 calories per serving.
